Subject:HAPPY 4TH OF JULY - EVE...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just wanted to drop you a note before tomorrow's festivities. The local reporters are begging us to come out and support resistance tomorrow, but they will not get their story.

A lot has changed since we last chatted. Believe it or not, unlike our city council, the Newport Beach Police Department has made it clear that THE RESIDENTS OF WEST NEWPORT WILL NOT BE TARGETED TOMORROW. Chief Bob McDonnel even admitted that last year 87% of the citations issued were to non-residents!

Now, let no one claim that I am an avid fan of all that some in the NBPD have done in the past. On the contrary, I'm not shy about the fact that I despise their helicopter at night, and feel that some amongst them have violated our civil rights in the past.

That said, tomorrow is not the time to dwell on the past. It is CRITICAL that we all behave ourselves. The reason is simple: let's not give our city council any reasons to shove more restrictions down our throats next year! Since the riots in HB, there have been years where it is literally illegal to drink on your own patio. Let's not give them an excuse to hand that down that repression on West Newport in the future.

So, I, Bryan Clarkson, and all of us at FreeNewport! are encouraging everyone to cooperate with the NBPD tomorrow. They claim that if we cooperate with them in maintaining order in our parties, they will cooperate with us, and we WILL NOT BE TARGETED.

Trust me, if they let us down, the whole town will hear about it, but let's try our best to give them the benefit of the doubt this time.

Also, for those of us planning parties tomorrow, we have put together our ideas for the 4th of July. Click Here to read them.

Lastly, their temporary prohibition begins tomorrow, so if you need to stock up now's the time.

The whole region will be watching us tomorrow. Show them that the residents of West Newport are truly a class act, and not the criminals some depict us as. Let's all have a fun (and safe) 4th of July tomorrow!

Let Freedom Ring!

Bryan Clarkson
