For starters, Gary only accepted just over $33,000 in campaign contributions, from 111 donors.  Still SIX TIMES that of fellow councilman Dick Nichols, but only about half that of teammate Tod Ridgeway (with 177 donors).  It is also worth noting that only about 25-30% of his campaign contributions came from the real estate industry, as opposed to Tod's 50-60%.  A little alarming is the amount of un-receipted cash that Gary claimed - $7,368, or over 20% of his total.  On a positive note, although Gary does share 32 of his 111 donors with Tod, we don't see the Andrew Goetz money, Duda money, or the Marvin Engineering donations (wonder why they only donated to Tod?).

On the expenditure side, we see that Gary made substantial payments to "David Ellis & Associates", in the neighborhood of $20,000, who would then pay many of Gary's bills for his campaign.  He seemed to be working closer with David, at least financially, than the other candidates that we reviewed thus far.  We still calculate that after the bills, he still paid David Ellis just over $7000 for his consultation (see calculations at bottom of page).  He also paid his "Team Newport" membership dues of $9,999, to the team.

Now, perhaps we're missing something here, but this seems to be a sizable fee for campaign consulting, but we'll let Gary be the judge of that.  Afterall, he did win the election right?
