9/18/03 UPDATE: Gary Proctor Recalls Himself!

Well, we had to do it. We had to dedicate a portion of our website to our favorite West Newport rep - Gary Proctor.

Some of you may be wondering, why Gary Proctor, he seems like a nice enough guy? Well, there are a number of reasons:
  1. Where does he live? This is debatable, but one thing is for sure, according to the OC Weekly, in 2001 he claimed his San Jose house as his primary residence. Are we to believe that Gary Proctor, our city council member who owns his own law firm, lives in a humble West Newport condo? (see picture below) Check out this OC Weekly article: " He Knows the Way to San Jose".

UPDATE: FreeNewport! has now learned that he actually lives at 769 Harry Road, San Jose, CA, 95120-2300. He bought this house in 1999 for $820,000. We found his 1985 Ford Bronco parked out front - see picture below...

  2. BIG DEVELOPER MONEY bought him his seat. Whatever happened to "of the people, by the people, and for the people"? Big developer money, must have a BIG REASON to have him there, right? It wouldn't have anything to do with that El Toro Airport now would it? Check out this OC Weekly article: " Leaving for Spain, Developer Takes a Moment to Grab Newport City Hall".

  3. Absentees. This guy is obviously having a problem coming to our meetings. As of September 10, 2003, he has missed 18 of our city meetings, more than Ridgeway, Webb, Bromberg, and Nichols combined! Click: "Absentee Representative" to learn more.

  4. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, he didn't vote with us when we needed it most. Before they voted to implement their "Safety Enhancement Zone" in our neighborhood, we presented him with signatures of over 1000 residents opposed to this ordinance.  In addition, 22 of the 32 people spoke out against the law, yet he voted for it? Lastly, to add insult to injury, he all but lied to us when we asked him for the results of their infamous 4th of July Survey. Click: "Information Minister" to see the evidence.
